We start with what's already there.
We plan the planting around the light the plot actually gets.
So the first work on a plot is usually going through the mature trees that are already there: which are sound, which are a hazard, and how much light reaches the ground once we have properly pruned them. We draw the design after that.

Planting follows the place
A dry terrace above Santa Eulària needs different planting from a shaded courtyard in Sant Josep, so we choose plants for the spot they are going into.
Design carried through
Two projects show the design carried through: a new-build garden designed and planted before the house went to market, and land brought back into workable condition before anything was planted at all.
